Accessibility Statement

Scope

This accessibility statement applies to the websites of AWH GmbH available at www.bestwaystore.de and www.bestway-spareparts.com.

As a company, we strive to make our website and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and the Ordinance to the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV), implementing the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services).

Status of compliance with the requirements

The accessibility requirements result from the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), in particular Section 14 BFSG in conjunction with Section 3 (1) and (2) BFSG, as well as the ordinance to be issued under the BFSG.

The specific technical measures partially meet the EN 301 549 standard and are based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, conformance levels A and AA.

The specific accessibility requirements are implemented in the Ordinance to the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV) in accordance with Section 14 BFSG in conjunction with Section 3 (1) and (2) BFSG.

Conformance status

The specific technical measures are based on WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA.

The review of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment (the content was assessed by an internal employee or the developer of the content) and was carried out on 24/06/2025. The assessment was conducted in accordance with legal requirements and international standards (EN 301 549, WCAG 2.2 Level A, AA).

The website “bestwaystore.de” has the following status compared to the conformance level represented by WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA: partially compliant — only parts of the content are compliant.

Description of the service

The online shop on bestwaystore.de (“online shop”) offers fun and outdoor products in the fun and adventure segment. Consumers can purchase items and related spare parts. Customers can search for items, compare them, add them to the shopping cart, and order online. The service includes presenting product information, availability, prices, and handling ordering and payment processes. Our goal is to provide all users—regardless of individual limitations—with simple and effective access to our full range of products and the related information and services.

Shopping in the online shop

The online shop partially meets the above legal requirements for an accessible user experience. Concluding contracts in the online shop is possible without barriers. Users can search for products, create shopping carts, place orders, and complete payment processes. For questions or advice, an accessible customer service is available via email, telephone, and contact form. Essential information such as product descriptions, prices, and delivery options can be accessed in plain language and in a structured format.

Description and explanations on how the service is provided

The retail platform at www.bestwaystore.de is designed as a responsive website accessible via different devices (desktop PC, tablet, smartphone). Use is primarily via graphical user interfaces. Core functions include:

  • a) Product search and filtering: Items can be found quickly and narrowed down using a search field and various filter options.
  • b) Product detail pages: Comprehensive item information is provided here (descriptions, images, prices, availability, customer reviews).
  • c) Shopping cart and checkout process: Items can be added to the cart, quantities adjusted, and checkout completed with various payment and delivery options.
  • d) Customer account: Registered users can view their orders, manage delivery addresses, and create wish lists.
  • e) Guides and services: Extensive content about items, product applications, and service offerings.
  • f) Communication: Contact options via forms, email, and telephone customer service.

Interaction mainly takes place through clicks, tapping, or text input. Visual information plays a central role but is supplemented with text alternatives.

Operational approach to meeting accessibility requirements

This statement describes our operational approach to meeting accessibility requirements under the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the related ordinance (BFSGV), which entered into force on 28 June 2025.

This approach is aligned with the state of the art and follows harmonised standards such as EN 301 549 as well as internationally recognised guidelines such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and ISO 9241-171:2008. These frameworks serve as references and guidance for designing and providing our service.

We continuously develop bestwaystore.de to ensure a high level of accessibility. Below we list examples of measures taken to ensure accessibility:

a) General measures for services

(1) Perceivability, operability, understandability and robustness

  • Perceivability
We provide content primarily as structured text that can be reliably captured by screen readers.
  • Operability
Standard navigation (tab order, forms) largely works via keyboard. For more complex controls (e.g., modal dialogs, carousels), focus management is continuously improved to ensure reliable operation without a mouse.
  • Understandability
Our texts and error messages follow a consistent, clear style. Technical terms are used sparingly, and context-sensitive help texts support users where processes are more complex.
  • Robustness
Semantic HTML and ARIA attributes form the technical basis. Custom components are validated against current specifications to ensure broad support by assistive technologies.

(2) Provision of information

  • Important information on how to use the shop and on accessibility features is easy to find and presented in an understandable way.
  • Information is displayed in a font with an appropriate size, suitable contrast, and adjustable spacing.

(3) Support services

Our customer service team is trained to provide information on accessibility and compatibility with assistive technologies using accessible means of communication.

b) Specific measures for services in electronic commerce

(1) Accessible security functions and payment services

Identification, authentication, security, and payment functions are designed to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. This includes clear instructions, understandable error messages, and support for keyboard navigation.

(2) Information on the accessibility of items

Where provided by manufacturers, information on the accessibility of items offered for sale is provided or linked.

c) Ongoing development

Accessibility on bestwaystore.de is an ongoing process. We pursue continuous development and optimisation to meet current requirements and the state of the art and to improve the user experience for all customers.

Feedback and contact option

We want to continuously improve our retail platform. If you notice barriers or would like further information on how accessibility is implemented at www.bestwaystore.de, you can contact us via the platform’s feedback mechanism or directly using our contact details:

We will review every request and get back to you as quickly as possible.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not fully accessible:

Our website largely complies with the requirements. However, there are a few elements that may make it difficult for people with disabilities to access information or use certain functions. The following content is not fully accessible:

  • Images and graphic functions do not consistently have clear alternative text; in some cases alternative text is missing.
  • In some areas, the focus order is not logical and the keyboard focus is not clearly visible.
  • Some controls on the website are not fully operable using a keyboard.
  • Contrast of certain elements may be insufficient.
  • Content in Easy Language or sign language is not yet available.
  • With certain screen readers, on confirmation pages the main heading is not focused and read out when the page loads; instead a subsequent element receives focus.
  • The animated content area at the top of the homepage cannot be paused or stopped.
  • In the animated content area at the top of the homepage, keyboard navigation is difficult to follow — non-visible content also receives focus.
  • Mobile search: keyboard users may not be able to use search in the mobile view when using certain assistive tools.
  • Skip links within the page are not reachable via keyboard.
  • The chatbot element may cover focused elements.
  • Text sections in English are not marked with the appropriate language attribute and may therefore be pronounced incorrectly by screen readers.
  • PDF documents
Some older PDF documents are not accessible. Newly published PDFs are generally provided in an accessible format or replaced with such a format promptly.
  • On some pages, links may be unclear.

We are continuously working to improve our website. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of material, we have not yet been able to make all content and services fully accessible. We strive to remove the identified barriers for people with disabilities as soon as possible within the next development cycle.

Status of compliance with the requirements

The review of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment carried out in February 2025.

Reasons for non-accessible content

The above-mentioned content is not (yet) accessible for the following reasons:

  • Technical and economic effort is currently disproportionate (Section 12 (5) BFSG).
  • Legacy content created before the legal provisions entered into force.

We are actively working to remove these barriers.
